In his second act of selflessness in the past week, Mitt Romney will endorse John McCain later today and release his 280 delegates and encourage them to support McCain. If enough of them do, then McCain will be able to more quickly reach the 1,191 needed to secure the Republican nomination.

Last Wednesday at CPAC, Romney decided to suspend his campaign for the best interest of the party and the country, rather than continue into a delegate brawl like we’re seeing on the Democratic side. By doing that and now releasing his secured delegates to do the same, he’s allowing the Republican party to united around one candidate while the Democrats continue to spend money and resources, possibly leading to a convention battle royal.

As much as the Republicans have had things going against them recently, these two acts by Romney seem to have us pointing in the right direction. There’s nothing better than to see the house of cards fall around the Democrats when they could have most likely secured the Presidency in 2008.
